Fans of the Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) and Elijah (Daniel Gillies) romance were probably disappointed last week on The CW's The Originals.

CBS Comic Book Adaptation Could Steal 'The Originals' Star

In an attempt to save her pack, Hayley agreed to marry Jackson (Nathan Parsons) in order to pass on her hybrid traits through an old werewolf ceremony. This essentially forced her to give up on her relationship with Elijah, though there is plenty of time for her to change her mind.

Klaus (Joseph Morgan) looks down on Jackson for a variety of reasons, none of which have to do with the fact that Klaus is the father of Hayley's daughter, Hope.

"I think honestly he's [Klaus] possibly a little resentful of the wolves," noted Morgan in an interview with TV Fanatic on Monday (featured below). "Maybe that's where this thing with Jackson comes from as well you know because he's an outcast to them."

Klaus spent most of his human life unaware of his werewolf origins, and by the time he was able to fully embrace that side of him he'd already become a vampire.

"I've been called vampire in this series so many times," laughed Morgan. "I've never been called wolf."

Shunned by the wolf community as a result of his vampirism, Klaus has been able to help guide Hayley through her transition into a hybrid. He has grown fond of her almost as another sibling. Their relationship has not been a romantic one on the series, but Klaus' brotherly feelings for the mother of his child could give him a thing or two to say about her new fiancée.

"I don't think Klaus values Jackson very highly at all…" explained Morgan. "I think Jackson would have a lot to prove to be respected by Klaus in a way."

Morgan also revealed that he had recently filmed "almost a whole episode" between Klaus and Jackson. "That's gonna be a good one to look out for," he teased it.

The Originals continues on The CW with its second season Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
