Good news for fans of Netflix's Orange Is the New Black: the prison comedy-drama continues to find support from top industry writers.

'Orange Is the New Black' Star Taylor Schilling Advises Teresa Giudice 'Keep To Yourself' In Prison

Orange Is the New Black was nominated for two WGA Awards on Thursday, bestowed by the Writers Guild of America East and West. The series was nominated for Best Comedy Series alongside some of the most critically acclaimed shows on television, FX's Louie, HBO's Silicon Valley and Veep and Amazon Prime's Transparent.

The series is also nominated in the Episodic Comedy category, receiving a nomination for the season 2 episode Low Self Esteem City, written by Nick Jones. Fans will remember that this was the episode with Gloria's (Selenis Leyva) flashback in addition to Piper (Taylor Schilling) finding out (in a darkly comedic fashion) that her grandmother was dying.

This episode is competing against ABC's Modern Family episodes The Cold and Three Dinners, Fox's New Girl episode Landline, Louie episode So Did the Fat Lady and Transparent episode The Wilderness.

These were the only two categories that Orange Is the New Black was eligible for at the WGA Awards, so the show's writers are probably very happy today.

Orange Is the New Black is hoping to continue their hot streak at award ceremonies this year at next week's Golden Globe nominations and SAG Award nominations. The show competed as a drama in 2013 to little awards success but may find awards gold in the arguably weaker comedy field.

Case in point: the Best Drama Series category for the WGA Awards is filled with top tier dramas like HBO's Game of Thrones and True Detective, Netflix's House of Cards and AMC's Mad Men. Orange Is the New Black may have an easier time winning in Best Comedy Series. See the full list of WGA nominations here.

Orange Is the New Black returns for season 3 in mid-2015 on Netflix, though the streaming site has not yet announced a specific premiere date.
