On Thursday, however, Deadline announced that the hit series has scored a few nominations at the upcoming Writers Guild Awards.
The program is up for two top honors at the writing-oriented ceremony. The show has been nominated for Best Drama Series for writers Heather Jeng Bladt, Smei Chellas, Jonathan Igla, David Iserson, Erin Levy, Carly Wray and creator Matthew Weiner. It also also has one episode nominated specifically for Best Episodic Drama for season 7, episode 2, A Day's Work.
'Mad Men' Creator Thinks Cast Has Gone 'Unrecognized' At The Emmys
Written by Jonathan Igla and Matthew Weiner, the episode focuses on the struggles between Don Draper (Jon Hamm) and his daughter Sally after she discovers that he lied about his unemployment. It also explores race relations within the office for Dawn as she manages to get Joan's old secretary position, which causes quite a stir within the office.
Mad Men will be up against a number of top rated dramas at the WGAs this year, including HBO giant Game of Thrones and CBS's ever-clever The Good Wife.
Mad Men returns on AMC for the remainder of its seventh and final season in spring of 2015.
The Writers Guild Awards will take place in Los Angeles in 2015 on Feb. 14, 2015.
