‘Red Band Society’ Cancelled? Executive Producer Hopeful For Season 2 Pickup, Gets Fans To Rally Behind Show By Teasing Possible Death? [VIDEO]
Red Band Society may not have much hope at returning to the small screen, but Fox's decision to leave the series off their spring schedule hasn't fully discouraged the show's executive producer.
Kara and Leo Do Something Unthinkable
In fact, showrunner Rina Mimoun told TV Line after the fall finale (and potentially the show's final episode) aired, that she is still hopeful for a season two pick-up-and that the show hasn't been cancelled after all.
"We were never pulled from the schedule. We were always airing our first 10 episodes, and going off for the holidays. That's why we built toward this cliffhanger," she said. "We're going to air the last three. Yes, we had gotten an order for additional scripts, and now we're not going to wind up shooting them, but it doesn't mean we can't come back for Season 2. It's totally possible..."

However, she did also encourage fans of the series to try and fight for the show they love so much, because that is what helps bring shows back year after year.
"I would say, if you want it, fight for it. Honestly, that is how these shows come back-because there is momentum from the people who love it," she said. "This small group, it's perfect for Red Band because the show is about this tiny band of fighters. When fans fight, it forces the network to say 'Ok, wait a minute. Let's rewatch. Let's look at all the numbers. Let's look at the live [numbers]. Let's look at the DVRs.' And that's the theme of Red Band: 'Don't give up.'"
And to perhaps convince fans of a truly compelling reason why they should fight to keep the series alive, Mimoun also admitted that by the end of the first season, at least one character would no longer be around.
"By the end of the season, there will be a death," she said. "I know. We had to go there. We had to. Come on. It's Red Band. We had to do it, but it could be any one of them."
The show, which aired the fall finale Dec. 3, ended with Charlie (Griffin Gluck) awake from his coma and regaining movement with one his thumbs; Hunter (Daren Kagasoff) undergoing a liver transplant surgery; Jordi (Nolan Sotillo) campaigning to get a risky surgery which would potentially help cure his cancer quicker; Leo (Charlie Rowe) on his way to recovery from cancer and having sex with Kara (Zoe Levin) in her car; and Emma (Ciara Bravo) home but not cured from her eating disorder-and passed out on her bathroom floor.
