'Captain America 3' Movie News: With Benedict Cumberbatch Doctor Strange, Could His Character Make A Cameo In 'Civil War?' [VIDEO]
After months of speculation, and hounding the poor actor about the role anytime they could, it seems like Benedict Cumberbatch can finally sigh with relief as Marvel announced that he would be playing Doctor Strange for the brand. But could his character appear before his solo film and join the universe?
'Captain America 3' Working Title Is Revealed & It Could Hint At The End Of Steve Rogers
While there are rumors of re-shoots taking place for Avengers: Age of Ultron that could include Cumberbatch, the more likely scenario could be the actor showing up in the next Captain America movie.
It makes sense because of the last movie's reference, his ties with S.H.I.E.L.D., and it would be closer to the release date of his solo film and could be his mini-introduction into the main story that Marvel is working on.
Did Chadwick Boseman Just Hint That Black Panther Could Be Seen Sooner Than 'Captain America 3?'
The next movie will have Captain America and Iron Man going head-to-head in the Civil War plot line and that could include bringing in superheroes such as Black Panther to side with each other. But could Steven Strange also make an appearance?
While it wouldn't necessarily be a major role or something other than a quick scene, it would be likely that Marvel would want to introduce the character and show off Cumberbatch in costume before his movie. Maybe it would end up just being a end-credit tease, but who knows, maybe Marvel would be interested in bringing him into the plot a little (like Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy).
They may instead follow the rumors and Cumberbatch could show up briefly in Avengers 2, but it seems more likely that Strange will be a part of the Civil War plot that is raging in the third Captain America movie more than whatever goes on with Ultron.
