This likely won't be the look at the royal family anyone was expecting.

While the true royal family may provide some entertainment for the masses worldwide, a new fictional family that controls the crown could soon take some of the spotlight away from them after E! premieres they're new scripted series, The Royals, this spring.

The series, starring Elizabeth Hurley as Queen Helena, Vincent Regan as King Simon, William Moseley as Prince Liam, Alexandra Park as Princess Eleanor and Merritt Patterson as Ophelia, Liam's American lover, is set to premiere on the cable channel Sunday, March 15 at 10 p.m.-and this royal family is certainly one which finds itself in the heart of several controversies.

In fact, in a new sneak peek for the series, the royal family seems to be doing everything they can to be on anything but their best behaviors-as a song plays with the words "Money" "Sex" "Drugs" and "Power" on repeat, we see the family partying hard, gambling, and participating in tons of gratuitous sex.

Added to their drama from the behaviors behind closed-doors, they're also going to be forced to deal with the King himself trying to have their power taken away from them-as he announces at one point that he is asking Parliament to abolish the monarchy.

The show was created and directed by former One Tree Hill creator Mark Schwahn, who told E! News he believed this sort of look into the secrets a family with major status and/or political power might be keeping behind closed doors.

"I just thought it would be really interesting to take a look behind the curtain," he said. "Who are these people? What do they want? What will they do to get it? I thought it was really fascinating and a great idea for the foundation of a story."

Hurley also spoke to E! News about the show, admitting that the scenes about what the public often doesn't see were actually a lot of fun to film.

"It's a very nice combination of what the public sees and what the public will never see," she said. "And we had a lot of fun doing the latter bit."
