As rumors of the completion of filming for season 3 of House of Cards are doing the rounds and the premiere date was recently announced, Enstars rounds up the latest updates about the Netflix political drama.
First Preview Release Of Season 3 Of House of Cards Around The Corner?
The third season is set to premiere on February 27, 2015. Recently, it was revealed that Remmy (Mahershala Ali) will be getting a new job in the next chapter of the show.
Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) will not only be signing up for fresh challenges as president but foreign affairs would be a prime focus for him. In a recent interview, Polish filmmaker Agnieszka Holland, who will be directing as episode in season 3, stated that Frank might also be dealing with the Russians.
"Without telling you what happens, once Francis Underwood becomes president, suddenly he faces different responsibilities and international situations, and I think there are some similarities to what's going on now. Because I have knowledge of international politics, know more about the Russians and what they do, I can bring that to the show."
It is known the Pussy Riot, the feminist punk group that was persecuted in Russia on grounds of profanity and their anti-establshment protest, will be guest starring season 3, playing themselves.
It was also revealed that the third season's trajectory wasn't going to be as planned as the first two seasons of the show, might give rise to unexpected twists and turns, making it more exciting for viewers.
There has been speculation about the return of a few characters on the show like Doug Stamper (Paul Russo), who was presumed dead in the finale of season 2, and Lucas Black, who has been put away in jail.
The Doug mystery is something a lot of fans are eagerly awaiting to see the outcome of in the next season. Russo, who plays Doug on the show, hinted at the fact that he might very well be alive in next chapter. Russo has signed for a longer contract, so he was unsure of what that meant as he execs were meant to honor it and he was being kept in the dark about his storyline.
Show creator Beau Willimon has been tight-lipped and extremely cautious about giving away any information. So when asked about Black's return in a recent interview with Katie Couric, he suggested that there was only one way to find out.
Racel (Robin Wright) and Frank Underwood's (Kevin Spacey) marriage will be strong as an oak and the odd dalliances might continue. Wright, who directed an episode is also likely to direct more episodes in the third season of the show.
The third season of House of Cards will film in Maryland, where the first and second seasons were also shot. Initially, the continuation of filming of the third season of the Netflix series was fraught with troubles over the past few weeks as the producers weren't getting permission from the State of Maryland. But the issue was finally resolved on April 25.
