The Originals returns on The CW this Monday night for one epic midseason finale which just might change everything for the Mikaelsons.

Elijah & Rebekah Make Shocking Decisions For 'The Originals' Midseason Finale

"Things have really reached their peak," teased creator Julie Plec during an inside look released by The CW on Friday (featured below).

As the "reunion" episode which will bring Rebekah (Claire Holt) to her brothers and baby Hope to her parents for the first time since the season 1 finale, the stakes are bound to be high.

'The Originals' Midseason Finale 'Packed' With Drama

"Esther is really going out of her way to get to Rebekah," revealed Plec and while the holiday reunion for Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) with Hope will have its moments for joy, there is also a lot more trouble stirring ahead.

Apparently Kol (Daniel Sharman) has bottled up a lot more jealously and resentment for the bond Elijah (Daniel Gillies), Klaus and Rebekah share. He has agreed to join forces with them to take down Esther (Sonja Sohn), but that doesn't mean he's on their side.

In fact, he's been trying for about hundred years to find the right diamond to make a dagger that would work on Klaus and with Davina's (Danielle Campbell) help, he might just be close to finding it. Not only would their success mean a brutal fate for Klaus, it would also leave Hope more vulnerable to attack. With one of her hybrid parents gone, Hayley would have to work twice as hard to keep her child safe from their enemies.

The Originals continues on The CW with the season 2 midseason finale Monday, Dec. 8 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
