The King of Hell recently came face to face with his mother, and "The Things We Left Behind" will pickup the story following Crowley's moment of utter shock upon finding Rowena (Ruth Connell) locked in his dungeon.
While Rowena doesn't initially realize who Crowley (Mark Sheppard) is (he's picked up a different meat suit since he entered hell), the demon will be 100 percent positive of her identity. After all, the witch hasn't changed since Crowley was a wee boy.

"He's just staring at me with an open mouth," Connell explained to TV Line. "So Crowley recognizes me because, obviously, I have not changed in 400 years or however long it's been."
Despite being apart for so long, Crowley will revert to a bit of his childhood personality while dealing with Rowena.
"You know what it's like with your own parents or relatives. No matter how accomplished you are in the world, when you go home, you're still the daughter. You become the teenager again," Connell teased. "It'll be interesting to see what aspects of Crowley come out in the presence of his mom. We're all slightly reduced back to our childhoods when we are with our parents."
