The highly-anticipated movie, which gained traction from a Kickstarter movement earlier this year, is expected to be released in theaters in Spring of next year, and is currently filming in the Wilmington, N.C. area.
The film earned nearly $2 million through the Kickstarter fundraiser, and is expected to pick up where the original Spike TV series, Blue Mountain State, left off after it was pulled from the network following a three-year run.
The exact plot of the film has not yet been revealed, but is expected to continue the story of Thad (Alan Ritchson), Alex (Darin Brooks), and Sammy's (Romanski) senior year of college at the country's fictional top football school.
The movie is also supposed to star other familiar faces that appeared on the TV show, including Denise Richards, Frances Shaw, Kely Kruger, Sam Jones III and Ed Marinaro.
Blue Mountain State: The Rise of Thadland is expected to open in theaters in Spring 2015.
