When Agents of SHIELD returns in March, Skye will have to deal with the fallout of the Diviner.

"I think she will feel a certain level of responsibility," said executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen, according to Entertainment Weekly. "He essentially went in after her. There will always be that direct connection."

As is the norm with Marvel and anything connected to the Whedon brothers, Tuesday night's death was unexpected and particularly shocking. Coming hard on the heals of Trip's heroic race to disarm the recently planted bombs, Trip's death was a stark example of the hazards of fighting HYDRA.

"It's just a reminder of the life that our characters have chosen: The life of an agent," Tancharoen explained. "Every day they are risking their lives. There are stakes. Trip's death is a direct example of that."

In other words, no one is ever safe on Agents of SHIELD.
