In the newly released single off of her upcoming "Red" album, Taylor Swift takes a dig at an ex-boyfriend, reassuring the guy and all her fans listening to the track that her breakups are final.

The 22-year-old's new track released on Aug. 13 is called "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" and is off her new album coming out on Oct. 22. During her "Good Morning America" interview on Aug. 14, she discussed the idea behind the song and where the inspiration stemmed from, reported by New York Daily News.

"This guy walks in who is a friend of my ex's and starts talking about how he's heard we're going to get back together. And that was not the case," Swift told "GMA." "So I start telling them the story: break up, get back together, break up, get back together - just, ugh, the worst! And I picked up the guitar and [songwriting partner Max Martin] said, 'This is what we're writing.' "

Lyrics from the new song include, "I say, I hate you, we break up, you call me, I love you/ Oh we called it off again last night/ but oh this time I'm telling you...we are never ever ever ever getting back together...like ever."

Fans are eagerly trying to guess who the "ex" is that Swift was referring to. She has been linked in the past to Taylor Lautner, John Mayer, Jake Gyllenhaal and Joe Jonas and in her 2012 album "Speak Now," she dissed ex-boyfriend and fellow singer Mayer in her song "Dear John."

In an article about the new song, Time magazine wrote in reference to Swift, "Ex-Boyfriends Beware." The article also stated that the song will likely become the new breakup anthem and that Swift admitted her album will be all about relationships.

The country singer is reportedly now dating Connor Kennedy, grandson of Robert F. Kennedy. The two have been recently photographed spending much time together in the Kennedy family's Cape Cod estate.

"We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" was released on Monday during an online chat Swift had with her fans, EnStarz previously reported.
