Last week when Burgess was shot and viewers wondered if Lindsay would return to the show, they weren't sure when their questions would be answered, but news of a premiere date has come!

NBC's Chicago PD tweeted on Sunday that the show is set to return to fans' televisions on January 7, 2015- and what better way to kick off the new year than with TV's favorite police squad?

Shortly after the season 2 finale took place, fans took to Twitter to find answers to their hundreds of questions, but got little to nothing from the actors and the official Twitter page for the show.

It's no surprise that when the show announced the return date on Twitter, that their post blew up. In less than an hour, the tweet received 117 retweets and 275 favorites as well as dozens of replies.

Responses like, "Too long," "I can't wait," and "I miss them too much to wait," were only a few of the replies scattered among more questions. Some of the popular questions were:

"Who is going to take Lindsey's spot?"

"So Lindsay is back with the Intelligence Unit?"

"Any spoilers?"

Fans were asking for just an kind of sliver of hope that actress Sophia Bush would be returning to the show to play her character Lindsay, but it seems as though viewers will just have to wait for the premiere.

Chicago PD airs on NBC.
