As Kevin Spacey has been nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance as Frank Underwood in House of Cards, the actor jokingly suggested that he might not attend the awards ceremony this time around to better his chances at a win.

Spacey tweeted about his nomination for the Netflix series, joking about how he hadn't won awards over the last eight times he was nominated because he attended the ceremony and maybe not going this time would make a difference this time around.

"I jinxed the last 7 #GoldenGlobes noms by showing up, should I sit 8 out in hopes that works? To better odds! #HouseofCards @RealRobinWright," he tweeted on December 11.

House of Cards is in the race for some crucial wins at the Globes.

The Netflix political drama has been nominated in three important categories which include, best actor in a drama, best actress in a drama, and best drama.

On December 12, showrunner Willimon congratulated his team on the nominations via Twitter:

"So proud of @KevinSpacey @RealRobinWright & the whole @HouseofCards team for the 3@GoldenGlobes noms! @netflix"

These nominations come on the heels of the SAG nominee announcements in which House of Cards leads the pack.

Entertainment Weekly assessed that the Netflix political drama and the ABC comedy have taken away the greates number of nominations. House of Cards has three nominations in top categories:

- Kevin Spacey for playing Frank Underwood in an Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series

- Robin Wright for playing Claire Underwood in an Outstanding Performacne by a Female Actor in a Drama Series

- Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series
