‘Red Band Society’ Cancelled? Star Dave Annable Appears Confident In Show’s Return, See What He Said About Series’ Fate On ‘The Talk’ [VIDEO]
The show may not know its fate just yet, but some of the cast from FOX's Red Band Society still seem confident that the show will not only have a chance to finish airing its season, but could potentially be picked up for a second one as well.
'Red Band Society' Chances Of Renewal Stronger Than Thought?
Dave Annable, who portrays Dr. McAndrew on the freshman drama series about sick children in a Los Angeles hospital, appeared on CBS' The Talk Dec. 16 and talked about his show, which Fox left off the spring schedule and halted production on back in November. And despite the potentially grim outlook for the show, Annable seemed positive about it and that it could return because of the message the show gave.
"What drew me to the show was the script," he said. "It really is this wonderful, wonderful show. It has the ability to inspire and to teach and to educate, and as an actor it's not every day you potentially get to be a part of something like that."

"Doing the research for the show, we got to go around to all these different children's hospitals and meet these kids that are dealing with some pretty heavy stuff," he continued. "And they're so inspirational and they have such a lightness and a sense of humor about it, but you know, this show lives in life and it lives in the ability to being able to appreciate what you have and it's kind of why I still wear my red band. It's like no matter what I have going on that I'm complaining about, there's these kids that are going through a lot worse, so it's a little subtle reminder to keep it in perspective."
The show's hosts-Julie Chen, Aisha Tyler, Sharon Osbourne, Sara Gilbert and Sheryl underwood-didn't ask Annable about the show's fate directly.
Though the news about Fox pulling the show for now appears grim for fans, the show's EP, Rina Mimoun previously spoke to TV Line and said that there isn't a final word on the show's fate-and there's still a chance for its return.
"We were never pulled from the schedule. We were always airing our first 10 episodes, and then going off for the holidays. That's why we built toward this cliffhanger," she said at the time. "We're going to air the last three. Yes, we had gotten an order for additional scripts, and now we're not going to wind up shooting them, but it doesn't mean we can't come back for Season 2."
