Criminal Minds is getting a new spinoff, the premise for which is set to be teased in the current season of the CBS procedural, a recent report revealed.

Entertainment Weekly reported that the project will be about a "division of the FBI that helps American citizens who find themselves in trouble abroad." The episode which will give fans a taste of the spinoff will air later in season 10 of Criminal Minds. But the new show is set to have a new star cast.

The report also revealed that the spin-off pilot will be shot in February next year. Criminal Minds's Erica Messer will be helming this project as well, and Mark Gordon and Nick Pepper will be serving as executive producers.

This season's latest episode aired on earlier this month, and the show is now on a brief hiatus for the christmas holidays but is set to return in January.

In the episode Ben Savage will be guest starring as a young Gideon.

The first look at Savage as a young Gideon and Robert Dunne playing a young David Rossi was also recently revealed.

The image was posted on November 26 on the CM_Set Report Twitter page for the series. On November 10, a report revealed that Ben Savage (Boy Meets World) will be playing a young Gideon in an upcoming episode of Criminal Minds.

TVGuide reported that Savage will be portraying a younger version of the character which Mandy Patinkin orginally played in episode 13. This will be part of a flashback featuring David Rossi (Joe Mantegna) and Gideon, rewinding to their earlier days. Robert Dunne will be playing the younger part for Rossi. The episode has been co-written by executive producer Erica Messer and cast member Kristen Vangsness. Messer spoke to TVGuide about what can be expected from the episode, which is a "love letter to fans."

"I've wanted to go back to how the BAU all started and now being in Season 10, it feels like it's time," Messer said. "I'm really excited about it to show our heroes from the beginning in the bomb shelter in Quantico. [Rossi's] memory drives us into the flashback, but it's also very reflective for the whole cast. It's not a typical episode."

It was also recently revealed that Mantegna will be directing episode 12 of the CBS show.
