On the surface, it appears everything has been resolved following the major drama surrounding Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and Caroline's (Linsey Godfrey) brief affair, but things are definitely not how they seem on The Bold and the Beautiful.

Rick Makes A Jaw-Dropping Decision

Rick (Jacob Young) did as his father asked and publicly ended his rebound relationship with Maya (Karla Mosley), and became recommitted to his marriage to Caroline in a bid to keep his position as CEO of the company. However, behind the scenes, he and Maya are secretly still together and plotting to take over the company for good and then live a happy life together.

However, Rick's moves to make sure the plan works may not be working in his favor, as his move to get Eric (John McCook) to sign irrevocable control of the company over to him has been met with some major hesitation.

Eric Gives Rick An Ultimatum

"I want to run this company with Caroline into the future, and it's awfully hard to do when I have Ridge plotting against me," he tells his father in a preview clip for the Wednesday, Dec. 17 episode.

Eric may still be hesitant to do such a thing however since Rick appeared to end things with Maya-but never made a serious move to prove his loyalty to Caroline either-leading the scheming couple to pull off a huge performance in an effort to convince Eric that Rick is sincere and wants a future with his wife.

"I have committed myself to this company!" Maya shouts in the clip. "What, it's not bad enough that you dumped me, and now you're firing me?"

"Maya, this isn't easy for me either," Rick replies.

If the two pull off a convincing enough performance they could see their dreams come true if Eric believes them and then signs the papers.

The Bold and the Beautiful airs Monday-Friday at 1:30 p.m. on CBS.
