Second graders in New Bedford, Mass. spent their recess rallying against police for the shooting of Michael Brown.
New Recordings Emerge After Michael Brown Case
On Dec. 12, about 20 children at Alma Del Mar Charter School protested on the sidewalk of the suburban town chanting "Honk if you want justice," and now the children are gaining nationwide attention, per Yahoo.
"While the rest of their class enjoyed 11:30 recess that morning, these 7 and 8-year-old protesters stood by the side of the road in front of the Alma Del Mar Charter School holding signs including one that read, 'Please don't shoot me, Ferguson.'"
Michael Brown's Family Mourns The Loss Of The Teen
According to Yahoo's website, some of the parents aren't thrilled by the schools decision to let children participate in this rally, but the school's founder and executive director George Borden stands by his decision to let the students protest.
Borden told The Boston Globe that the teachers sent home notes alerting the parents about the demonstration and parents could have their children opt out of the rally if they chose to do so.
Back in November, a grand jury decided not to indict officer Darren Wilson, the Ferguson, Mo. Police officer involved in the fatal shooting of unarmed black teen Brown.
Since the Ferguson prosecutor's office announced the decision, violence has erupted in the streets of the suburban neighborhood and people around the world are still participating in civil protests to show support for the dead teen and the rest of the Brown family.
Over the weekend, New York, Boston, Los Angeles and Washington D.C. and other cities around the world held "Millions March," and people are demanding change within the justice system.
