Despite playing a tough guy on TV for seven seasons, Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam definitely has a sensitive side offscreen.

Hunnam, who played Jax Teller for seven years on FX's Sons of Anarchy, recently spoke to Cosmopolitan and revealed that he is really nothing like his dangerous character.

"I play a lot of tough guys and violent characters, but I'm not like that at all," he admitted. "I'm a hippie who smiles a lot and is pretty relaxed. I've often had an escape fantasy that I would go out into the woods by myself for a year or two and discover who I am and what life is about."

He also said that he has a weakness for ice cream due to an ice cream maker his girlfriend got him.

"Oh yeah, I get loose," he said, discussing his love of ice cream. "I can't make it that often because I'll eat the whole thing, but a couple months ago, I made double-dark chocolate. I put in twice the amount of chocolate, crystallized ginger, gingersnap cookies, a bit of chili flake - whew, forget about it!"

The actor has been heavily praised over the years for his performance as Jax, especially in the final episode.

Sadly the show never really picked up awards buzz at any point during its seven-year run, except for Katey Sagal, who won a Golden Globe for Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her performance as Gemma in 2010.

It remains to be seen if the Emmys will award Sons of Anarchy with any nominations next year.
