Diem Brown 'Challenge:' Producer Says Not Airing 'Battle Of The Exes II' Wasn't Considered [VIDEO]
Diem Brown and Ryan Knight's final Challenge was always something producers intended to air.

Although MTV's Buckwild was canceled following the tragic death of cast member Shain Gandee, series creator Jonathan Murray claims he and the Challenge staffers never considered leaving Battle of the Exes II on the cutting room floor.
"That never occurred to us," Murray told E! News on Monday of the option of scrapping the season. "They were both, particularly Diem, such great competitors. Diem loved The Challenge. She talked about it being that opportunity to get away from her cancer. When she's doing a Challenge, she's able to not even think about cancer because she's so focused on competing."

In addition to airing The Challenge: Battle of the Exes II, producers will be paying tribute to both Brown and Knight in The Challenge casting special, which is set to air prior to The Challenge: Battle of the Exes II. Also, the show itself will be dedicated to Brown and Knight.
According to Murray, Brown and Knight have been painted in the best light possible, as to not taint their memory. He also assures fans that watching the two competitors in their final Challenge will be cathartic.
"We're pretty convinced that Diem and Knight would want this season to air," added Murray.
The Challenge: Battle of the Exes II premieres on Jan. 6 at 11 p.m. on MTV. Check out the official trailer below.
