Though they still managed to finish in a respectable second place on season 25 of The Amazing Race, married dentists Jim and Misti are still feeling the sting of falling just short of winning the $1 million prize.

Phil Keoghan Talks Season 26 Surprises

'We were waiting for it to be over," Jim said in an interview with TV Guide about watching the episode. "I was dreading that episode...because it's a black cloud that's been hanging over us for six months, coming in second. Now that it's over, we don't have to keep any more secrets."

The team, who won the most legs of the season with five first place finishes and were the ones in possession of the coveted new Save prize all season, made it clear early on that they intended to set a new record for the most legs won throughout the season-and win the entire race in general-which made the second place finish hurt just a little bit more.

'Amazing Race 25' Ends With Most 'Surprising' Finale Ever

Adding to the sting, the eventual winners, food scientists Amy and Maya, would have initially been eliminated at the end of the 11th leg in any other season-but for the first time ever, they continued on into the finale episode and last leg, where they managed to trump the other teams and become the third all-female team to win the race.

Jim admits now that seeing them finish the final memory task first was a bit hard, though he attributed it more to his constantly visualizing his and Misti's win than the good fortune that gave the scientists an ability to race in the last leg.

"It was hard seeing them leave," he said. "From the time we went to LA to interview to the end of the race, I never saw anything in my mind other than victory. I just visualized it over and over. To know we were fighting for second, it sucks. But we got outperformed on Leg 12."
