Christmas Movies 2014: Check Out 10 Holiday Films That Are Not Really Holiday Films [PHOTOS, VIDEO]
It's the holly jolly time of the year and with only a couple days away, it might be fun to gather up and watch a Christmas movie...or movies that just happen to take place around that time.

For anyone who's tired of the typical A Christmas Story or Elf, perhaps some of the movies on this list could be worth a watch since the plot might not have to do with Christmas, but happens to be set at that time. One of the films includes Go, the 90's hard-core teen flick about raves, drugs and a mess of adventures that take place in one night- and the night happens to take place in December when no one seems in the mood to curl up with hot chocolate. In fact, everyone is trying to survive the night.
There is also the movie version of the hit musical Rent that also takes place during the holiday season. But this one has less of a connection to the standard traditions of a joyful Christmas because a group of singing hopefuls are yearning to get by in a cruel world.
Another that might be worth watching is Batman Returns. This one shows that there is at least one superhero movie that takes place during the winter with the snow falling- and then there's that one scene with the penguin in the beginning.
Check out the slideshow for the rest of the movies that take place during Christmas, but take on their own kinds of traditions.
