'American Horror Story' Season 4 Spoilers: Will Elsa, Bette, Dot, Dandy & More Survive Through End of 'Freak Show'? [VIDEO]
As FX's American Horror Story: Freak Show eventually comes to a close, the question becomes who will survive the season in one piece.
How 'American Horror Story's Stanley Is The 'Engine' Behind 'Freak Show'
American Horror Story is very well known for killing off major characters, and this has already been the case for Freak Show. With characters like Twisty the Clown (John Carroll Lynch), Ethel (Kathy Bates), Gloria (Frances Conroy) and Ma Petite (Jyoti Amge) all being killed off well before the final episodes, the show's other characters better watch out.
Luckily for Elsa Mars (Jessica Lange), we know that she will survive through Freak Show as Pepper (Naomi Grossman) saw her picture on the cover of Life magazine in 1958. So she will at least get out of Jupiter, Fla. unscathed and by all accounts she appears to have a happy ending. Anything is possible, though.
'American Horror Story' Star Finn Wittrock Reveals Dandy And Freak Show's 'Worlds Collide'
Dot and Bette Tattler (Sarah Paulson) have a high probability of surviving due to Paulson's very good luck with her characters. Her character in Murder House, psychic Billie Dean Howard, survived the season, as did Asylum's Lana Winters and Coven's Cordelia Foxx. She is the only main cast member whose characters have never died. It remains to be seen if this pattern will be reverse in the final three episodes, though.
The potential survival of Jimmy (Evan Peters) is still a mystery. He is currently in prison and without his lobster hands after Stanley (Denis O'Hare) convinced him to remove them. His willingness to protect his fellow freak may get him in trouble eventually and could seal his fate.
Characters like Desiree (Angela Bassett), Maggie (Emma Roberts) and some of the other freak show performers are less than major characters and do have the potential to die, though Desiree has shown a strong will.
Other characters who have emerged as villains, such as Stanley and to a lesser extent Dell (Michael Chiklis) might be knocking on death's door, especially if American Horror Story wants to make a point about the persecution of homosexuality in the '50s.
Then there's Dandy (Finn Wittrock). Easily the breakout character of the season, Dandy has been on a murdering spree through almost every episode. But who could possibly put an end to him? Is he too unstoppable?
American Horror Story: Freak Show returns Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
