Set to air during the Agents of SHIELD winter hiatus, Agent Carter will bring Peggy Carter (Atwell) into the post-WWII world. Trying to prove her incredible skills in the male-dominated Strategic Scientific Reserve, Atwell's character will become a shining role model for girls searching for a place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
"It's a great role model for young girls," Atwell told SCI FI magazine. "I've had a lot of feedback from mothers who are very excited that Marvel is willing to put a female in a central role, to be able to depict many facets of who we are but also how we're as capable as men."
With Captain America (Chris Evans) allegedly deceased, Atwell's talents will take center stage.
"Peggy gets to explore [sexism and equal rights in the workplace] and also prove men wrong time and time and time again, that she is not only capable, but she's doing it her way and she's an intelligent, sexy, smart woman," Atwell informed SCI FI.
