'2016: Obama's America' Shows Into President's Past; Details [Trailer]
With the presidential election on everyone's mind and candidates scrambling to grab the interest of voters, a new film about President Barack Obama will put all eyes on him.
"2016: Obama's America" is a PG-rated documentary about the president that runs for almost an hour and 29 minutes, with current showings in select theatres across the country and further releases occurring every weekend.
According to IMDb, the film shows its cameramen traveling to four continents as director, and best-selling author, Dinesh D'Souza talks to people close to Obama's roots, trying to explain to audiences about the president's past and where America will lie in 2016. The film explores the sought-after question on many voters' minds: if Obama wins a second presidential term, where will American be in 2016.
The film's official site stated the following as part of their synopsis for the film:
"Obama is a man with a past, and in powerful ways that past defines him--who he is, how he thinks, and where he intends to take America and the world...Emotionally engaging, 2016 Obamas America will make you confounded and cheer as you discover the mysteries and answers to your greatest aspirations and worst fears. Love him or hate him, you don't know him."
Its producer is Gerald R. Molen, the visionary behind the Academy Award winning "Schindler's List."
The film was based off of D'Souza's book "The Roots of Obama's Rage." Interestingly enough, the author himself is not a fan of the president. The New York Times reported last week that D'Souza claimed Obama goes after " 'anticolonial' ideas," that he has "emasculated NASA" and blatantly "refused" to take a step against Iran's nuclear activities.
In the film, D'Souza goes far back enough to even bring in ties to Obama's professor at Columbia and the president's half-brother, George. Not interviewed in the film are Obama's political supporters, proving that the focus of the film are on those who helped shape the president we see in front of us today.
