Oprah Rihanna Interview: Talk Show Legend Posts Extra Footage On Twitter [VIDEO]
Rihanna's emotional interview with talk show legend Oprah Winfrey spiked in interest across the world for the singer's comments about ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, and now Winfrey is offering fans a peek at what they didn't get to see.
Oprah posted a new video to YouTube in which she and Rihanna discuss the perception some people had at the beginning of her career that the Barbados-born songstress was stuck up.
"Coming from Barbados ... you don't speak until you're spoken to. Being quiet is being polite," Rihanna says in the clip. "And that was misperceived in the beginning of my career as stuck up, rude. I was called a bitch."
That idea about her personality eventually came back to bite her when talk reached her mentors and studio executives.
"It filtered all the way through the radio stations, back to my label, back to Jay-Z, back to everybody that I didn't want to disappoint," she said. "And it hurt to see that they thought I was that when I was the complete opposite."
Winfrey touted Rihanna as being completely authentic in the interview, and she wrote on Twitter that she appreciated the fanfare for the episode of "Oprah's Next Chapter."
"Thank you all for watching @rihanna on #NextChapter. I wanted you to see this, but was not enough time in the show," Winfrey wrote as she posted the clip.
The interview, which aired Sunday night, made buzz for Rihanna's frank talk about her relationship with Chris Brown and the night he physically assaulted her.
Winfrey will follow up the Rihanna interview with a "Next Chapter" sit-down with Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas and her mother, which is set to air Aug. 26 on OWN.
