American Horror Story: Freak Show star Finn Wittrock does not necessarily think of his character Dandy as a villain, though he does think there is a method behind his madness.

Could 'American Horror Story' Stars Jessica Lange Or Kathy Bates Win Golden Globes Despite 'Freak Show' Snub?

Wittrock's Dandy has easily turned into the biggest villain on American Horror Story due to his penchant for murder, but the actor recently told Vulture that he doesn't play his character thinking of him in that regard.

"I can never think of him as a villain. I can never think of him as evil. I just have to keep getting under his skin," Wittrock explained. "But he realizes that his purpose in life is to kill. It doesn't get more dangerous than that. Because I actually found that the killing is not out of hatred. He kind of likes the people that he kills. He wanted to be a performer, and somehow that's transformed into murder, so he thinks of it as a performance, like he's fulfilling his destiny."

There have been plenty of theories on the internet regarding the psychology of Dandy, with some thinking that he is a repressed homosexual. However, Wittrock dismissed those rumors in particular.

"No, no, definitely not," he said when asked if Dandy was gay. "He just likes girls with two heads, you know? One head's never enough."

It seems like there is no end to Dandy's devilish thirst for killing. Let's just hope he doesn't find his way to the freak show and continue his recently acquired habit.

American Horror Story: Freak Show returns on Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
