'Arrow' Season 3 Spoilers: Oliver To Return In Hong Kong Flashbacks In Upcoming Episodes? [VIDEO]
As fans eagerly anticipate the return of season 3 of Arrow, most are still hoping for some proper closure after Oliver's (Stephen Amell) death in the mid-season finale. While little can be said about the wishful resuscitation of Oliver, there is the possibility of seeing him in the show again in the form of flashbacks.
What We Know So Far About The Mid-Season Premiere Of Arrow
A recent report revealed that there would be flashback scenes set in Hong Kong in the upcoming episodes of season 3, and it is known that Amell has shot for these, as the flashbacks essentially told his backstory in the city. It was reported that Matthew Shrieve would be guest starring in the show, and would play a "significnat role in the flashbacks story line."
It was also revealed that he would make his first appearance via a Hong Kong flashback scene. This would mean that all of this could have something to do with Oliver's story, so fans who were worried they wouldn't get to see the hero again, might ease up a touch, as there might be some more of Amell to see.
Showrunner Dishes On Felicity's Reaction To Oliver's Death In Upcoming Episode Of Arrow
In the promo for the mid-season premiere of the series, somebody is heard saying Oliver is dead, as the camera pans atop the mountain top, where the duel between Ghul and Oliver took place, showing Oliver's limp body on a rock. That's about all the preview gives away about what fans can expect from the next episode, titled Left Behind, which is to air on January 21.
In an interview, Guggenheim spoke about what fans can expect from the show now onward, and suggested that Roy will be stepping it up after Oliver's loss, in the upcoming episodes.
"One of the things I was very straight with Colton about is I don't think we serviced his character quite as much as we would have liked in the firt half of seaosn 3," he said. "I'll say the stuff that he's got in episodes 10, 11, and 12, it's pretty dang gangbusters. There's one scene in episode 11 between him and John Barrowman that I think is some of his finest work on the show."
