Oscar Pistorius Trial: Courtroom Sketch Artist & Friend Jaco van Vuuren Says Olympian ‘Will Give Anything In His Power To Change That Day’ [VIDEO]
Oscar Pistorius' friend turned courtroom sketch artist, Jaco van Vuuren, reveals what he spoke to the Olympian about during the trial.
Oscar Pistorius Reportedly Had Somber Christmas In Jail
On Wednesday, The Guardian announced that Van Vuuren opened up about sketching his friend and more during the trial.
Van Vuuren was seen talking with Pistorius quite a few times during the duration of the trial and he has revealed he tried to keep things light despite the intensity of the trial.
"Me and him being bachelors, I tried to talk about women, if there's any hot media girls, that type of thing," Van Vuuren recalled.
He further shared the pair would talk about athletics too.
"Also his knowledge about athletics was still brilliant. He knew about times run yesterday in a competition in America and everything of that sort. So we spoke mainly about athletics," he said.
Van Vuuren said he became a sketch artist in court "because of an absolute obsession."
The sketch artist also said he believes Pistorius' story of events that happened on Valentine's Day last year, but divulged, "The one thing's that not mentioned in court, and we still don't know why it's not been brought up: he was as nervous as hell a week before that happened. He was on the track and I heard this from another Olympian who trained with him. He was as nervous as hell as if something was bound to happen."
"I'll tell you one thing, Oscar will give anything in his power to change that day, go back and not do it. One day in jail is 10 years too many. South African jail is a hellhole of note," he stated about Pistorius' actions and jail sentence.
