Picking up seconds before the end of "Atonement," the midseason premiere will open as David Clarke and Victoria hear gunshots rigout at Grayson Manor. Aptly titled "Epitaph," the Jan. 4 installment will focus on the aftermath of Daniel's death.

In a new sneak peek (see video here), Victoria rushes to her dead son's side, kicking off an episode of mourning.

"There is a degree of regret and a degree of loss that bonds Emily and Victoria in this really sad way because they both actually see there was a heroism to this boy that they both communally put through hell," teased executive producer Sunil Nayar, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Meanwhile, the police will already be on their way to Grayson Manor. In an odd move for a Clarke, David will dial 911 before even finding out who was on the receiving end of the gunshots. Luckily (or unluckily), Jack is already in the house, having emptied his own weapon into the woman who had her deadly sights set on Emily/Amanda.
