'Jurassic Park 4' News: The Dinosaur Sounds For 'Jurassic World' Are Imagined? [VIDEO]
A new report reveals that the dinosaur sounds for Jurassic World are based on guess work and not actual facts or paleontological science.
Discovery News spoke to some experts to find out if that is actually how dinosaurs sounded in real life and if scientists had any way of knowing for real. Lindsey Zanno, an assistant research professor of paleontology at North Carolina State University stated that ot was not really possible to figure that out off of fossils.
"It is not easy to study dinosaur sounds," she said. "Vertebrates usually vocalize with soft tissues, and soft tissues rarely preserve in the fossil record."
Some paleontoligists in the report go on to discuss how they might have arrived at the vocal sounds in the movie, stating that it was most likely also based on the fact that the "modern descendants" of dinosaurs were birds and crocodiles.
In other related news, recently details and pictures of four new dinosaurs including the aquatic dinosaur the Mosasaurus were unveiled on the Jurassic World website.
The Mosasaurus, Stegosaurus, Gallimimus and the Ankylosaurus were revealed on the website, adding to the three breeds -- Tyrannosaurus Rex, the Apatosaurus and the Triceratops -- that had initially been made available. Of the 16 breeds, now details of nine are left to be uncovered for fans on the website. Fans got a glimpse of the Mosasaurus's feeding show in the trailer for the movie, now they can get the specs on this ginormous aquatic beast, for which sharks are mere nibbles.
Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jake Johnson, Vincent D'Onofrio, Irrfan Khan, and Ty Simpkins.
The Jurassic Park films are based on Michael Crichton's series of novels about pre-historic beasts being revived by revolutionary gene technology.
