Rachel (Lea Michele) and Kurt (Chris Colfer) will clash over what to do with the New Directions on the final season of Fox's Glee.

With Rachel and Kurt becoming the co-directors of the new glee club at McKinley High, they will have different ideas regarding what direction to take them in. While Rachel is interested in having the club do modern-day songs, Kurt wishes to have the kids do classic songs.

A new extended synopsis of the third episode of the season, an episode titled Jagged Little Tapestry, reveals how the tension between them will escalate.

"Kurt and Rachel continue to struggle as co-coaches of New Directions . . . They reach an accord - albeit a tenuous one - when they decide to make their first weekly assignment a mash-up of the two genres using the music of Carole King and Alanis Morissette," the synopsis reads, per SpoilerTV.

Meanwhile, the personal lives of many characters will be covered in this episode, including Kurt's on-again off-again relationship with Blaine (Darren Criss) and a variety of other storylines.

"As Kurt struggles with the thought that he might have lost Blaine for good, his growing feelings of hopelessness begin to exacerbate the tensions between him and Rachel even further," the synopsis continues. "Meanwhile, when Becky Jackson [Lauren Potter] needs help to cover up a lie told to her new boyfriend, some of the Glee Club alumni pitch in to help... in more ways than one; Brittany [Heather Morris] and Santana [Naya Rivera] take their relationship to the next level; and when one of the football players conspires against Coach Beiste [Dot-Marie Jones], it leads to her making a shocking confession - and to a welcome opportunity for Sam [Chord Overstreet]."

Glee is slated to return for its final season on Friday, Jan. 9 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox. The premiere is a two-hour event.
