'Agent Carter' Premiere: How Will Peggy Complete Captain America's Work? Hayley Atwell Talks Personal Demons [VIDEO]
Agent Carter's eponymous heroine will have Captain America's specter hanging over her head as the series premieres.
Locked away in the arctic ice, Steve Roger literally fell out of Peggy Carter's (Hayley Atwell) life at the end of Captain America: The First Avenger. Now that Carter is struggling to find a place for her impressive skills in the male-dominated SSR, the loss of her former love interest will drive Carter to push for the world to exemplify his qualities.
"[A lot of who Carter is now] stems from her relationship with and her love of Steve Rogers," Atwell in formed TV Line. "I think she found in him the love of her life, the greatest man that she's ever known in terms of his character and his values. And in that grief we see her own personal struggles and her own kind of exhaustion, but also the determination to carry on his work."

Unfortunately, Carter will have to battle a few personal demons a long the way.
"You're seeing someone who has her own demons and her own character flaws, and she's having to struggle with that while keeping up this facade of a put-together, perfect agent who can cope with everything. But there's a cost to that," Atwell said, explaining that Carter can only be stoic to a certain point.
As the eight-episode season progresses, viewers will see the loneliness, lost, and psychological cost of her trial and tribulations.
