Katherine Jenkins Twitter Denies David Beckham Affair
Welsh singer Katherine Jenkins responded to rumors of an alleged affair with British soccer player David Beckham on Aug. 24.
Jenkins, an opera singer who competed on "Dancing With The Stars" last season, released an official statement on Twitter stating that the rumors are "very hurtful, untrue & my lawyers tell me actionable."
"Dear Twitter friends, I've read some horrible rumors on here & want u 2 know I absolutely deny I've had an affair with David Beckham," she wrote. "I've only met David twice: once at the Military Awards in 2010 & on a night out in the West End in Feb 2012. We were out in a group of friends & it was just a normal fun evening out. Just so we are clear I have never been on my own with him and never arranged to meet up."
The 31-year-old responded to gossip reportedly sparked by a fake magazine cover, which claimed Beckham had left his wife, Victoria.
Beckham's publicist denied the allegation, calling the rumors "rubbish" and "nonsensical."
David and Victoria Beckham were photographed shopping with their children in California this week. The power couple just returned from London; David attended the opening ceremonies of the Summer Olympics while his wife reunited with the pop group Spice Girls to perform during the closing ceremony on Aug 12.
According to reports, David has been accused of cheating on his wife in the past. In Touch Weekly interviewed Irma Nici, a former prostitute, about a 15-minute sex session with the soccer star. The 26-year-old told the magazine that the athlete paid her $10,000 for one night of sex.
H&M recently unveiled their latest underwear ad campaign featuring David. Victoria will have a runway show next month for her successful fashion line at New York Fashion Week. She'll show her namesake collection at the same time as pal Katie Holmes who will reveas her latest Holmes & Yang line.
When Olympic tennis champion Serena Williams wore one of Beckham's formfitting dresses for her appearance on David Letterman's late night talk show, she surprised the funny man when she came out on stage in the stunning outfit.
"I think I saw your eyes almost pop out there," she told him.
"Well, I think so ... That's not the only thing," Letterman replied.
