Phillips, who plays Henry on the series, received the set from his wife, Yvonne Phillips, for Christmas. The actor appeared eager to get working with the punching bag, which could be some good prep for production. Writers are currently in the process of penning new episodes for the crime drama.
The television series debuted on A&E in 2012 and ran for three seasons before the network decided to drop the program earlier this year. The show lingered in limbo for a few months, receiving overwhelming support from fans who organized Twitter Stampedes and petitions to save the series from permanent cancellation. Allegedly A&E had believed the show to skew too old with viewers and that advertisers would prefer a younger demographic, which sparked outrage amongst Longmire fans. It also sparked a greater debate about networks and viewership which some fans believe could change the face of television.
In December Netflix picked up the program for a fourth, longer season. Production is set to begin in March.
Longmire will likely return on Netflix for a fourth season late in 2015.
