Hawaii Five-0's Daniel Dae Kim will take a spin in the director's chair during season 5.

The man behind Chin Ho Kelly will pull double duty for episode 17, playing the role of both actor and director.

"A new year, a new adventure; my first day as a director, episode 517 of #H50," Kim tweeted on Tuesday. "Wish me luck!"

Luckily for Kim, his directorial debut will place most of the acting burden on Alex O'Loughlin (McGarrett) and Scott Caan (Danny). Executive Producer Peter Lenkov previously teased an upcoming McDanno-centric storyline, and Entertainment Weekly confirmed that Kim's episode will include a long-term stakeout featuring none other than McGarrett and Danno.

"I've been looking forward to the opportunity to direct for a long time and I'm glad it's with Five-0," Kim told Entertainment Weekly. "Peter Lenkov and the production team have been nothing but supportive, and I'm excited to work with my cast mates in a fresh new way. After working on a show for 100 episodes it's easy to 'take your foot off the gas' a bit, but this has reinvigorated me in a great way."
