But that is not the case as Kevin Spacey who plays Frank Underwood has revealed earlier last year that it was unlikely that the show would be wrapping any time soon. It also doesn't make sense for the network as the show is doing so well.
It has been suggested that the writers will rewrite the plot, and not have Underwood die at the hands of Claire as happened in the second season of the series.

In an interview with BBC UK dated June 8, the actor spoke about addressed rumors about him playing the villain in the next James Bond flick, his new documentary, NOW: In the Wings on a World Stage and his current tour for Clarence Darrow.
The actor also slipped in a few details about the upcoming season of House of Cards. Earlier last month, Beau Willimon spoke about various plot twists, Frank's (Kevin Spacey) motivations and character storylines in season 2. A fan posed a question about the length of the Netflix series which is adapted from the original BBC show. The British original lasted for only three seasons which prompted the question. Willimon was obviously tight-lipped, simply stating, "I couldn't possibly comment."
When Spacey was asked how long the show might last for, he suggested he had "no idea" while saying that he was "enjoying it very much."
He want on to add that considering, the audiences were also thoroughly enjoying it, meant it would enjoy a long life.
"It seems that audiences are as well, so you know, I see no reason why it can't go on for a while," he said.
Season 3 of House of Cards will premiere on February 27, 2015.
