'True Detective' Series News: HBO Drama Set To Win Best Actor, Lose Best Supporting Actress At The Golden Globes? [VIDEO]
The Golden Globes take place this Sunday and many predictions have True Detective coming out on top.
'True Detective' Might Be Going For A Documentary Style For Season 2
In anticipation for the Golden Globes this week, on Thursday Variety put together a list of predicted winners. With four nominations, True Detective is predicted to win Best Movie Or Miniseries Made For Television. Matthew McConaughey (Rust Cohle) is also expected to beat out his True Detective costar Woody Harrelson (Marty Hart) for Best Actor In A Movie Or Miniseries Made For Television.
According to Variety, the only category the HBO crime drama is expected to lose out is Best Supporting Actress For Television. Michelle Monaghan, who played Marty's wife on the series, isn't expected to emerge from a pack of strong performers.
McConaughey was considered the most unexpected casting choice for the HBO drama back when the series first began, but quickly his portrayal of Rust and the momentum from his Dallas Buyers Club Oscar win launched him into a whirlwind of success.
Casting for the show's upcoming season proved to be just as unexpected, with Vince Vaughn (career criminal Frank Semyon), Colin Farrell (Detective Ray Velcoro), Rachel McAdams (Ani Bezzerides) and Taylor Kitsch (Paul Woodrugh) set to star. The story will surround the death of a city manger and California and the events which follow.
Production is currently underway.
True Detective will return on HBO for a second season mid-2015.
