Tost went on to follow his dreams, earning an advanced degree and writing for a hugely popular television series with a massive following.
Like Tost, Longmire has become something of an underdog story over the past year.
Based on the novels by Craig Johnson, the show was A&E's highest-rated scripted series when the network cancelled the crime drama after its third season in 2014. The program lingered in limbo for months, recieving overwhelming support from fans across the country and slowly building up momentum. In December all that attention paid off. Netflix picked up the series and soon after that Tost found himself back in the writer's room getting ready for a new season.
Production for the series is set to resume in March.
Longmire will likely return on Netflix for a fourth season during the later half of 2015.
