Penned by Doctor Who vet Toby Whithouse ("A Town Called Mercy," "The God Complex") and directed by newbie Daniel O'Hara (Silent Witness, The Game), the untitled double episode will feature appearances from a wide range of well-known Brits.

This includes the previously announced Paul Kaye, who will play Prentis; Morven Christie, who confirmed her character will be Scottish; Arsher Ali, Colin McFarlane, Sophie Stone, Zaqi Ismail, Steven Robertson, and Neil Fingleton.

Whithouse is returning for his fifth and six episodes and was excited to hear a positive fan reaction after the news dropped early on Wednesday.

"Thanks for the great response to me doing more Who," Whithouse tweeted. "So pleased it's been announced, I'd have totally blabbed it if it'd been left any longer."

Just because the two untitled episodes are filming first, it does not mean the series is currently shooting for the season 9 premiere. Doctor Who has a tendency to film out of order, and it remains to be seen if the production is currently working on "The Magician's Apprentice."
