'True Detective' Season 2 Spoilers: Rachel McAdams To Play Edgy Character With A Secret Past? [VIDEO]
Rachel McAdams just might bring some edge to her role on True Detective this year.
Is Matthew McConaughey Planning A 'True Detective' Cameo For 2015?
Recently it was rumored that the 36-year-old actress had chopped off her hair in favor of a brunette-to-blonde bob specifically for the HBO crime drama after she was seen with the new 'do at an airport. According to the Daily Mail on Sunday, McAdams showed up at the William Morris Endeavour Golden Globes party with that same hairstyle.
Since True Detective is already in production, McAdams new 'do must be her role as Detective Ani Bezzerides on the popular series. With her short waves and black leather jacket on Sunday night, the actress might just bring some female edge to a program known for its focus on men.
Will 'True Detective' Golden Globe Loss Hurt Viewership For New Season?
While Rust Cohle (Matthew McConaughey) and Marty Hart (Woody Harrelson) were a pair of strong, complicated, and occasionally misled men, neither could really called a "bad boy." Perhaps creator Nic Pizzolatto is trying to mix things up with an unpredictable detective for McAdams this year. So far Ani is the only character whose demons have yet to be revealed, and with a writer like Pizzolatto she's sure to have them hiding somewhere.
The second season of the series this year will surround the murder of a city manager in California, which will contrast season 1's Louisiana atmosphere. Stars for season 2 include McAdams, Vince Vaughn (career criminal Frank Semyon), Colin Farrell (Detective Ray Velcoro), and Taylor Kitsch (Officer Paul Woodrugh).
True Detective returns on HBO for a second season mid-2015.
