Academy Awards 2015 Nominations: 10 Biggest Surprises & Snubs For 87th Annual Ceremony Honoring The Best In Motion Pictures [VIDEO]
If there's one thing that movie fans can count on as always being the same with each year's Academy Awards ceremony and nominations, it's the fact that those who score the honors will always surprise.

While several expected films, actors and directors did score nods (Boyhood and The Grand Budapest Hotel led the pack with nine nominations each), several actors found themselves surprisingly snubbed for the ceremony-and a few movies also seemed to be missing. In addition, some new entries into the awards season seemed to appear almost out of nowhere.
Here are the 10 biggest snubs and surprises at this year's Academy Awards:
1. Selma
Sure the powerful film chronicling Martin Luther King's campaign to secure equal voting rights via a march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama in 1965 did score nominations for Best Picture and Best Song. But director Ava DuVernay was snubbed, as well as actor David Oyelowo, were completely shut out of this year's awards.
2. Wild
While the film did earn Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress nominations for Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern, it missed out on Best Picture and Adapted Screenplay nominations.
3. Interstellar
Being that this sci-fi epic was a Christopher Nolan helmed flick, it's a bit shocking that it's only being recognized for its Visual Effects and Best Original Score categories.
4. The Lego Movie
Shockingly, the adorable film was shut out of the Best Animated Film category. It does have a Best Song nomination however.
5. Jennifer Aniston
Perhaps the biggest acting nomination snub was the one which saw the Cake actress shut out of the Oscars completely, despite having earned a lot of buzz in her dramatic role and nominations at not only the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild and Critics Choice. What makes it a bigger shock however, is that this is the first time Aniston was expected to have scored an Oscar nomination.
6. Amy Adams
Adams has seemed to be a perennial favorite at Awards shows over the years, especially the Academy Awards, where she has seen herself nominated for four Supporting Actress awards in 2006, 2009, 2011 and 2013 for her roles in Junebug, Doubt, The Fighter and The Master, as well as a Lead Actress nomination in 2014 for American Hustle. But this year, despite previously getting a Golden Globe nomination for Big Eyes, she will be absent from this year's esteemed nominees.
7. Jake Gyllenhaal
The actor previously received nominations for his role in Nightcrawler, but has found himself cast out from the biggest Awards show.
8. American Sniper
While films like Birdman, Boyhood, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Imitation Game, The Theory of Everything and Selma were expected to win best picture nominations because they've been scoring acknowledgement at every other Award show, the biographical film about Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle is a new addition to the Awards circuit.
9. Bradley Cooper
Like his film's winning a Best Picture Nomination, Cooper was a surprising add to the Best Actor category. Instead of Gyllenhaal and Ralph Fiennes repeating their nominations, Cooper slid in to take their places and try to steal the award (it's his third overall nomination in three years, but he previously lost for his roles in Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle-this could be his year).
10. Marion Cotillard
Though the actress did win a Critics Choice nomination, her inclusion in the best actress category here for Two Days, One Night seems surprising-especially when her inclusion potentially wound up being what kept Aniston and Adams out of the running.
