Doctor Who will trade the damp and cold of a Cardiff winter for the Mediterranean air of Spain while filming season 9.

Cast Announced For 'Doctor Who' Season 9 Two-Part Episode, Writer Talks Return To Series

Following last year's trip to Lanzarote, the BBC series will pack up production once more to head to Iberian peninsula for work on the second block of episodes.

Used to filming in two-episode blocks, Doctor Who is currently filming two installments penned by Toby Whithouse. The series' director of photography, however, is busy scouting locations for the next block, according to Doctor Who TV.

"Going to Spain on a location recce for the DR," Ali Asad, the director of photography, tweeted on Tuesday.

Viewer's will have a while to wait in order to find out the Doctor's (Peter Capaldi) reason for traveling abroad, but hopfuly a block one update from executive producer Steven Moffat can help tide you over.

"An amazing guest cast for a brilliantly creepy two-parter by Toby Whithouse," Moffatt said, according to the BBC. "Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman are back in Cardiff, back in the box, and back in action - for one of our scariest adventures yet!"
