A$AP Yams, a member of New York’s A$AP Mob, was found dead, his record label RCA Records confirmed on Sunday. The hip-hop mogul, whose real name is Steven Rodriguez, was 26.

As a co-owner of the ASAP Worldwide label, Yams was the force that helped rapper A$AP Rocky’s debut album Long.Live.ASAP go No. 1 on Billboard. In an interview with the New York Times in 2013, Rocky called him “the mastermind behind the scenes.”

“Yams is the hip-hop encyclopedia,” he also said about his longtime friend. “He’s no joke. That’s one person I can’t front on when it comes to music.”

The cause of Yams’ death hasn’t been revealed, but his A$AP Mob co-members and many others took to social media to remember the hip-hop star.
