'Hannibal' Season 3 Spoilers: Gillian Anderson Dishes On Series' Frightening Darkness, Bedelia Du Maurier [VIDEO]
Hannibal is not for the faint of heart.
The NBC psychological thriller has the capacity to become so terrifying that even members of the cast need to fast-forward through some skin-crawling moments.
"Hannibal is too dark for me!" Gillian Anderson (Bedelia Du Maurier) told The Hollywood Reporter. "It is. If I'm going to watch some of my scenes, I need to have my finger on the fast-forward [button]. I literally am not that person."
'Hannibal' Season 3 Episode 7 Title Revealed, Bryan Fuller Teases Extremely 'Weird' Plot
Anderson will have a lot of fast-forwarding to do when season 3 premieres. The X-Files star plays the notorious cannibal's psychiatrist, but the upcoming season will place Du Maurier at the heart of the story as she gallivants across Europe as Dr. Lecter's alleged wife. The photo above shows the pair filming in Florence this past December.
Despite the inherently frightening aspect of Hannibal's story, Du Maurier is a role Anderson would be loath to pass up.
"What I am interested in there is I know the genius of [showrunner] Bryan Fuller and how extraordinary it is, what they're creating in an artistic vein," Anderson told The Hollywood Reporter. "And the opportunity to work with those three fine actors - and also when you're offered Hannibal Lecter's psychiatrist, that's a difficult thing to say no to!"
