Hayley is preparing to play both sides in order to unite the vampires and werewolves this season on The Originals.

Freya Returns As Baby Hope Becomes 'Unstoppable' On 'The Originals'

On Tuesday actress Phoebe Tonkin sat down with IGN to discuss her character's future on The CW drama, particularly in terms of how Hayley is taking advantage of her new place as a hybrid.

"Basically she's kind of now realized that as a hybrid she has both the wolves and the vampires on her side," explained Tonkin. "So she's trying to use those allies and try to join their forces together."

For Hayley, as well as Klaus (Joseph Morgan), it is all about making New Orleans a safe place for their daughter, Hope (Alexandria Collins). "I think their dream is just to live as normal a life as possible," admitted Tonkin, "But obviously that is not going to happen for a while and not without a lot of obstacles to get there."

While Hayley and Klaus rarely saw eye-to-eye during season 1, the two have bonded a lot this season. Both are now hybrids and they have their daughter to bring them together. They are slowly becoming peers.

Unfortunately for Hayley, things with Klaus' brother Elijah (Daniel Gillies) are more complicated than ever. Hayley has decided to move forward and marry Jackson (Nathan Parsons) in order to save her pack, but that doesn't mean she no longer has feelings for Elijah. They care deeply for one another and ignoring that attraction won't be easy. Hayley does, however, seem determined to save her pack whatever the cost.

The Originals continues on The CW with its second season Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
