Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are scheduled to make their first public appearance together since their cheating scandal. The former couple is set to appear at the MTV Video Music Awards on Thursday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The "Twilight" stars will promote the final sequel "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2" at the Awards ceremony and are scheduled to co-present.

As of Tuesday, New Line Cinema, the studio behind the "Twilight" franchise, has not changed Pattinson and Stewart's promotional work, meaning viewers could see the actors for the first time together since Stewart cheated on Pattinson with her "Snow White and the Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders.

"From what I understand they're both still gonna be here. I'm not really up to speed on the whole soap opera that's been going on between them. I know they've got a movie to promote. 'Twilight' is coming out so it makes sense for them to show up at the VMAs if you ask me," VMAs host Kevin Hart told BANG Showbiz.

However, it is unclear whether Stewart will attend. The 22-year-old actress is also scheduled to attend the film premiere of "On the Road" at the Toronto International Film Festival on Thursday, the same day the VMAs take place.

In a recent interview with Vogue, Stewart discussed fame and being in the spotlight but didn't address the cheating scandal.

The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards will feature performances from Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, One Direction, Taylor Swift, Pink, Frank Ocean, and Green Day. Rapper and VMA nominee Lil Wayne will make the worldwide debut of his new single "No Worries" from his new album "Dedication 4."

Presenters include, Katy Perry, Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus, the Wanted, Andy Samberg, Ke$ha, Rashida Jones, Wiz Khalifa, Mac Miller, the U.S. Women's Gymastics Team and Korean rapper and YouTube sensation Psy.

The Awards ceremony will air live at 8 p.m. EST Thursday.
