Lou Diamond Phillips has been doing a lot of writing over the last year, which means he could potentially try his hand at writing for Longmire sometime in the future.

Three 'Longmire' Stars Confirmed For Summer Festival

Phillips is "insanely excited" about the reading of his new play this month. The Longmire star, who has spent three seasons playing fan favorite Henry opposite Robert Taylor's Walt Longmire, recently announced the staged reading of his play Burning Desire.

The New York City event will take place at The St. Malachy Actors Actors Chapel in New York City on Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 8 p.m.

Date Set For 'Longmire' Days 2015

While some television stars turn to directing, Phillips seems more interested in storytelling through writing. In 2014 he wrote the preface for Craig Johnson's Wait For Signs, the latest installment in the Longmire series on which the show is based.

So will Phillips try to pen an episode? Or is he still trying to improve his craft? The actor has openly admitted that he's not ready to write a full book just yet, but perhaps an hour long episode of a show he's known for years could be right up his alley.

Now that the former A&E crime drama has a new home on Netflix, anything is possible.

Longmire is set to begin production in March. It will likely return for a fourth season on Netflix during the later half of 2015.
