A new character is going to make an appearance on Call the Midwife where it seems like her life will be pretty difficult.

New Character To Experience 'Tragic Moments' On 'Call The Midwife?'

On Saturday, Young Voices announced that theater actress Cherrelle Skeete will be playing a character named Abigail Bissette who will be far along in a pregnancy. It also sounds like she'll have other things going on that won't be so pleasant, but does what she can to work through it.

"I play a woman called Abigail Bissette who is part of the Windrush generation of the 1960s who arrived in the UK with her husband to start a new life here," the actress said. "The storyline enters around the racism she experienced, but how she handles it with dignity."

Someone Will Begin 'Call The Midwife' 'Quite Badly'

"It portrays those first Windrush settlers in such a positive light," Skeete added. "As hard working people who were pursuing their own British version of the American dream."

The actress also said that she's proud to play this part because she feels like it's an "important role."

It sounds like the new season of the series will have a lot of wild scandals since the characters are entering this new generation where everything changed. Jenny Agutter (Sister Julienne) recently told Radio Times that things are about to get crazy.

"Suddenly this exciting world bursts open," the actress said. "The Pill completely changed things. Poplar [where the series is set] didn't have so many babies and that reduced a lot of pressure on families. Sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll."

Call the Midwife Season 4 is expected to premiere in the United States this spring on PBS.
