The recast has officially been announced. Soap Opera Digest revealed last Tuesday that Australian actor Lachlan Buchanan will be taking over as Kyle now.
Buchanan has previous soap opera experience from his time on the Australian soap Home and Away.
The handsome, young Australian actor also had stints on various primetime American TV shows such as Pretty Little Liars and NCIS: Los Angeles so he's definitely capable of taking on the role of Kyle.
The 24-year-old revealed to Soap Opera Digest his Australian accent would be missing while he portrays Kyle.
"Yes, I'll be doing an American accent which means the Aussie one is going to disappear," he said, adding, "It's going to be a fun challenge and I'm really looking forward to playing Kyle."
Buchanan also revealed his excitement on Twitter about his new role.
On Instagram he shared a photo of what appears to be part of his first script for the soap.
He reports to his first day on set Tuesday, Jan. 27 and he'll first appear in the Feb. 25 episode.
The Young and the Restless airs on weekdays at 12:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
